Diese Woche hatten wir Adriana Navarro Ramírez zu Gast bei DudL. Die preisgekrönte mexikanische Investigativ-Journalistin hat uns unter dem Thema „Journalism, Land, and Community: Stories of resistance in Mexico and Latin America“ eindrucksvoll über die Lage des Umwelt- und Menschenrechtsjournalismus in Mexiko erzählt. Anhand greifbarer Beispiele machte sie die Probleme deutlich. Neben fehlender Kooperation und fehlenden Ressourcen ist besonders die Sicherheitslage besonders problematisch für Journalist*innen in diesem Feld. Nach ihrem Input stand Adriana Navarro Ramírez für Rückfragen bereit und diskutierte mit uns über die Probleme des Journalismus, seiner Finanzierung und Sicherheit, auch über den mexikanischen Kontext hinaus. Wir bedanken uns sehr herzlich bei ihr für die tollen Einblicke und die Diskussion!

This week, we welcomed Adriana Navarro Ramírez as a guest at DudL. The award-winning Mexican investigative journalist gave an impressive presentation on the state of environmental and human rights journalism in Mexico under the theme “Journalism, Land, and Community: Stories of Resistance in Mexico and Latin America.” She used concrete examples to highlight the problems. In addition to a lack of cooperation and resources, the security situation is particularly problematic for journalists working in this field. After her presentation, Adriana Navarro Ramírez was available to answer questions and discussed with us the challenges facing journalism, its funding, and safety, also beyond the Mexican context.
