Am Dienstag, den 4. Juli 2023, konnten wir für unser Diskussionsformat Debatte unter der Linde (oder DudL) Thomas Klöckner gewinnen. Thomas promoviert zum Thema EU & Queer Rights und betreut die wissenschaftliche Koordination am Europäischen Zentrum für Föderalismusforschung (ECRF).
Darüber hinaus konnten wir zahlreiche Studierende und Interessierte zu unserer gemütlichen Zusammenkunft unter der Linde vor dem Institut für Politikwissenschaft begrüßen. Bei Butterbrezeln, Cookies und Getränken wurde nach einem spannenden Impulsvortrag von Thomas Klöckner zum Status Quo der LGBTQI*-Rechte in Europa diskutiert, wie, wo und warum diese in Europa angefochten oder geschützt werden, und wie man insgesamt die Rechte dieser Community besser schützen kann.
Schnell wurde klar, dass eine so multidimensionale Herausforderung keine einfachen Lösungen hat, es jedoch im Interesse all derer, die für Freiheit und Demokratie einstehen, ist, diese Rechte mit zu verteidigen und die Gesellschaft über Missstände aufzuklären.

On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, we were able to win Thomas Klöckner for our debate format Debatte unter der Linde (or DudL). Thomas is doing his PhD on the EU & Queer Studies and is a scientific coordinator at the European Centre for Research on Federalism (ECRF).
Additionally, we were able to welcome numerous students and interested people to our cozy gathering under the Linden tree in front of the Institute for Political Science. While enjoying butter pretzels, cookies, and drinks, and after an exciting keynote speech by Thomas Klöckner on the status quo of LGBTIQ* rights in Europe, we discussed how, where, and why they are contested or protected in Europe, and how to better protect the rights of this community overall.
It quickly became clear that such multidimensional challenges have no easy solutions, but that it is in the interest of all those who stand up for freedom and democracy to help defend these rights and educate society about grievances of the community.
